Annika Joy Camenga

Annika Joy Camenga arrived on Wednesday, October 17th at 10:54 p.m.  She weighed in at 8 pounds 12.7 ounces and 21 inches long and a wonderful little bundle.    She had been a little slow in entering the world, so labor was induced.  It didn’t take long then – just over five hours from induction to birth! Grandma and Grandpa Rood were in town for the week and brought Elisa to the hospital Thursday morning.  Elisa was delighted with her new baby sister and very happy to hold her.  She also had fun with Grandma and Grandpa while we stayed in the hospital. Annika came home on Friday afternoon.  Other than refusing to nurse directly, she is a very good baby and had some reasonably long periods of sleep – we had to set an alarm for a few nights in order to make sure that she...

Four & Pre-K!

By on Sep 7, 2012 in Uncategorized | 0 comments

Elisa has passed two significant milestones in the past month.  She turned four a month ago and this week she started Pre-K at Genesee Valley Central School! Elisa celebrated her birthday with a small party in Berlin at Great-papa’s house – and Great-mama’s memorial service.  We had brownie sundaes for dessert and she got a number of games, a watch and a fairy Barbie (her one request).  We have played the games – especially Richard Scarry’s Busytown – repeatedly since Elisa is enthralled right now by any game.  The SuperWhy ABC Letter Game is also a favorite.  (Early birthday gifts of games got us through all the pre-Conference meetings two weeks prior!) Elisa spent the next 2-3 weeks thinking about all the people she could tell she was four now.  She loved telling people in stores and at the bank as well as at school that she was four (even though...

Mommy’s favorite summer pictures

By on Aug 24, 2012 in Uncategorized | 0 comments

Especially since we haven’t been keeping up to date, some of the best pictures of the summer haven’t made it to the blog.  So as the summer is nearing an end (Kristin starts work full time  after the weekend and teaching in a week), here is a review of some of our favorite pictures and some of the stories that go with them. Elisa had fun doing a number of things around the house this summer.  Gardening has been particularly fun and here she is reveling in her garden gloves which came from the Kotz family last Christmas.  If you look through the gallery, you can also find her putting together our new grill with Daddy. While we were waiting for the car to be serviced in June, we went and hung out in the mall.  We went up and down the escalators umpteen times in all the department stores, played on the kids playground, looked at the animals in the pet store, and had lunch at...

Conference in West Virginia

By on Aug 24, 2012 in Uncategorized | 0 comments

This year for our denominational conference, we traveled to West Virginia and were there for 10+ days.  Along the way there, Kristin and Elisa stopped in Maryland with our friends the Kotz’ for 2 days while Andrew went on ahead for meetings.  Noah and Elisa had a delightful time, playing lots of games, playing drums and ukelele together, and just having a generally good time.  When playing hide and seek outside, Elisa signaled her location with a high pitched giggle; whenever a grown-up was seeking, Noah and Elisa hid together and Noah matched Elisa giggle for giggle.  We also went to Monocacy National Battlefield and took a walk. We joined Andrew at West Virginia Wesleyan College on Wednesday.  Kristin and Elisa mostly hung out and played lots of games while Andrew had meetings.  Early birthday presents supplied the games – and Elisa constantly wanted to play the SuperWhy...
